Today, the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) announced that JW Software, Inc., a custom software developer and designer, will be expanding in Sunset Hills with plans to create over 10 new jobs over the year. JW Software is also actively exploring a new building for its corporate headquarters.

JW Software started in the basement of Missouri native, Jim Wieland, who began his company by writing custom business applications for small businesses in the St. Louis area. After working on the development of a custom solution for a client, Jim recognized the need for this type of software solution in the market– and JW Software’s flagship product FileHandler was born.

FileHandler is a browser-based claims administration tool designed to help manage multiple lines of business such as, Worker’s Compensation, Auto, Liability, and Property Claims.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to expand in the Show-Me State. Missouri’s professional economic team helped identify resources that would allow us to leverage growth. The performance-based programs incentivized us to look at an expansion not only in creating high-paying technology jobs, but also perhaps expanding or building a new corporate headquarters in St. Louis,”

CEO of JW Software, Jim Wieland

JW Software chose to grow where it originated because of Missouri’s close proximity to its client base, the availability of business-friendly initiatives like the Missouri works program, and because the ample talent pool of information technology candidates from local Missouri universities provide the ideal location for a customized software solutions business.

“St. Louis County has a talented, educated workforce,” said St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger. “More and more fast-growing tech companies are realizing this, as well as recognizing that St. Louis County is a great place to live and work.”

The company is focused on growing the business and plan to do this by diversifying their product offering by researching and developing new products for the market. This year, JW Software is launching their newly developed FileHandler Enterprise Claims and Risk Management System which adds several new features to their current system such as business intelligence for claims and risk managers, an enhanced dashboard to track claims, added security functions and the ability to quickly customize workflow.
